Paul: I tried running TR1 through Glidos, with the Direct3d instead of OpenGL. The game itself seems to work just about as well through there. However, I also tried running Orthos while doing this. |

I tried running Return To Castle Wolfenstein with Orthos. Same problem. |

There's not really any useful information in the output. It just stresses the machine to see if it will fail. The result is failure or no failure. |

Yes, quite, although we shouldn't give the impression we are blaming Lynn for any of this. |

How about running a different 3D game (not one that needs Glidos) at the same time as Orthos? |

If I might stick my nose in where it does not belong ... :) In the dead of night, a faint whisper from Lynn Perry was heard, on 08/04/2007 09:08 PM, and I could have sworn it said ... |

That's how Orthos shows up problems, yes. And the beeping is your motherboard warning you of overheating. |

A short time after this, I tried running Orthos while running TR1. I let the game run for over 30 minutes and started getting an intermittent beep from the pc. |

Yeah, you should really get an expert in to check it over. |

Yes, there's AGP involved somewhere. I can get into the bios setup at the start, but I have no idea what I'm seeing while I'm seeing it. Remember, I'm not a computer whiz. :( |

Pretty conclusive then. Your system has trouble either with heavy 3D load, or with combined heavy 3D and CPU/Memory load. |

About an hour and 15 minutes by itself. I had something else I had to do. Not a peep out of it all that time, and it was still running without a hitch when I got back to it. Solo. |

A bit unfair to call the thread Spam: it has only in the last few posts become clear that the problem is not specific to Glidos. |

I installed the orthos application and ran it. I tried each item on the list for one minute each (except "Custom"...I don't have any idea what the terms mean). |

No known conflicts. My best guess would be that your system has inadequate cooling and it's overheating. Glidos would show this up because it tends to run the CPU at 100%. |
