Is this a largish black screen, in addition to the initial VDos32 dialog box? Is this a large grey screen, in addition to the initial VDos32 dialog box?

Paul Gardiner 20 October 2009 08:29

Vdos32 is a black screen with Vdos32 shown in the upper left corner. Glidos Server then opens as a gray screen with Glide Server in the same place.

Originally from: Paul Gardiner I've stuck another version of VDos32 here hoping that you Vista beta testers might take another look: http://vogons.zetafleet.com/viewtopic.php?

The thing to do is: 1) Delete the Glidos folder and the TOMBRAID folder. 2) Download and install Glidos 1.

Paul Gardiner 18 October 2009 10:40

No, I have the game set up to play at Full Screen, and the box that would pop up was half that size.

I've just released new versions of Glidos and VDos32. The main difference is improved support for Tomb Rainder I on 32bit Vista.

I've just released v0.5 of VDos32 (http://www.vdos32.com) General improvements, including better cooperation with Windows, so that it's safe now to press F1-F4 when running...

I reinstalled both Glidos (1.41 and then 1.44 over it) and TR. When I chose Start Program, a VDos32 box appeared, indicating "Unimplemented out0336h".

sstrand sstrand 17 October 2009 23:49

That's not a problem that VDos32 addresses. Are you generating the key using your current GlidosID? Does your GlidosID keep changing, maybe?

Paul Gardiner 15 April 2007 09:16

Hi Paul Well, I reinstalled everthing and I also downloaded Vdos32 and I"m still having the same problem. The spinning Glidos emblem returns when I get to the 3rd level.

Reuben Otis 14 April 2007 22:52

Hi Paul Thank you for keeping me in the loop. I've completely unistalled Glidos and TR cause of the problem I was having so I haven't tried to do anything further with it.

Reuben Otis 14 April 2007 21:29

Here's a new version of VDos32. There is some small hope that this might work under 64bit Windows. Could someone try it out.

Paul Gardiner 01 March 2007 09:41

Definitely worth a try, but if you are using the latest version of Glidos then TR isn't really running under XP; it's running under VDos32 – assuming you are starting TR with...

smartgroups smartgroups <(Address removed)> said: Glidos provides only the Glide emulation for the game. A DOS environment is also needed.

Paul Gardiner 05 March 2010 17:06

Sorry, the new features of Glidos 1.39 wont work with VDos32. VDos32 needs updating. Its not hard, so maybe soon.

Paul Gardiner 13 October 2007 21:20

Yes, after I would press Start Game, a VDos32 black (small) screen would pop up, then a Glidos Server gray (small) screen. Then a complete (monitor size) black screen.

sstrand sstrand 21 October 2009 16:05

I've just released v0.8 of VDos32. It has been updated to work with Glidos v1.39, activating all the in-game music of Tomb Raider I.

Paul Gardiner 04 November 2007 15:54

Its aimed at supporting these games under Vista but also works under XP, NT, 2K. Cheers, Paul.

On Vista you will get nothing unless you use VDos32.

Paul Gardiner 24 September 2008 00:12

Sorry- I'm new to the group and I'm not accustomed to the order of responses. Anyway- Im not on vista- but on Xp, I'm not using vdos32 and I have the problem.

wyn palmer 11 February 2008 16:40

I'd recomment using the preconfigured archive on http://www.glidos.net, rather than the advanced installer.

Paul Gardiner 23 September 2008 17:05

Were you thinking Glidos or VDos32? I can't remember that using Glide. What happens when you try running it under Windows directly?
